Fall Favorites in Middlesex County

Fall landscape in Acton

Make the most of fall’s fleeting beauty by celebrating the season in Middlesex County. The town of Acton is the place to be in the fall, and 2014 is no exception. From September through December, the area offers stunning views, festive fare and plenty to do for people of all ages. Enjoy the following activities and more this fall:

  • Acton’s Turkey Trot race
  • Short Play Festival by the Theatre III in Acton
  • Concord Chorus Winter Holiday Concerts

Falling leaves in brilliant colors represent New England’s changing seasons at their best seasons at their best; even the wildlife appreciates the view. The Thanksgiving table isn’t the only place you’ll see turkeys in West Acton. Keep an eye out for these charming gobblers when you get out and soak up the cool air! The fall spirit is alive and well at festivals, from brew fests to craft fairs and fall foot races. Iron Work Farm, a former plantation site on which Acton’s first settlement was founded, hosts a number of ongoing and special events all year round.

5K Turkey Trot in Middlesex County

Stay active in the colder months by running the 5K Turkey Trot in Acton on November 28, 2014. After your run, enjoy a much-deserved break at one of the area’s excellent restaurants, pubs or live music venues. Dine or enjoy a meal at The Local Table, with its focus on both sustainability and local food and beverages. Indulge in fine dining fare at Sprigs Restaurant, or gather the family for a meal at Dicapri Pizzeria and Restaurant.

There’s still plenty to do in late fall as December comes into the picture. Take in the 2014 Short Play Festival at Theatre III, Acton’s community theatre, from December 5-13. Get into the spirit of the upcoming winter holidays with the Concord Chorus Winter Holiday Concerts. The festivities will be held at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on December 13 at the Middlesex School’s Memorial Chapel. Cap off the evening with dinner at Twin Seafood or one of the other amazing Concord restaurants.

Whatever your favorite fall activities, you’ll find something to suit your taste. From the Newton area to the town of Acton, Middlesex County offers a wealth of activities in October through December of 2014.
